echo and song
by Renea McKenzie
winter’s border wind
lilts through smoke-
weathered
attics, across façades
east to west,
sun-like.
some liken it
to a rite
of passage,
others call it
grace.
Renea McKenzie, M.A., is a Texas native whose work often reflects the intersection of faith and protest and, somewhat similarly, the way north-Texas wildlife stubbornly adapts to the sprawling city.
