Nobody Listens to Andrew

by Karen Yoder

Bumbling jokes
Fumbling tongues
Jumbling souls
Voices jangle in the hollow hall
Affirmations bridge the spacious cracks
Exclamations bolster the joists.
Wishing we could hear, we whisper faint,
Wishing others heard, we speak it loud.
Prickled that no fellow will concur
Sullen that no syntax echoes here,
Exclamations bridge the spacious hall
Affirmations jangle in the joists
Voices bolster hollow cracks.
Jumbling jokes.
Fumbling souls.
Bumbling tongues.

Karen collects syllables while petting perennials, entertaining first graders, and filling the birdfeeder.
