Five Haiku on Deer

1. The deer hesitates,
   Uncertain whether to be
   A kamikaze.

 

2. Like the deer, I too
   Must cross this one danger-path:
   For better pasture?

 

3. The angry man’s horn
   Says to move; it knows not what
   Shores I stand between–

 

4. My appearance would
   Not so endanger us both
   If I had no car.

 

5. I could not escape
   The truth, around the curve it
   Strikes me in the lights.

Richard Stoltzfoos is the son of Adin,
son of Wilmer,
son of Elam,
son of Moses,
son of Samuel,
son of John,
son of Christian,
son of Nicholas Stoltzfus,
who in the year 1766 emigrated from Europe,
being born of Christian Gottlieb Stoltzfus,
of the Saxon line of that name
which began in the year of our Lord 400,
by the provision of God, in German Saxony.
