Wonder

by Sherri Steiner

A flame has touched these hills, a breath that slows.
The dawn arises, lighted torch in hand
and walks abroad as glory stirs herself,
then wakes and wanders, losing on her way
her crimson brush, the fire that drew me in.
I find her later, there among the hills
mid-afternoon, a softer glory now.
The gentle crowning of the clouds comes down.
Oh, fling this window wide upon my world
as glory wanders through these common hills.

Taught by country life and students, Sherri is learning to love both the dramatic and the mundane.
