Of a Rubicon
by Sherri Steiner
How graciously your silken steel was spun
into the bright motifs that lilt a soul;
what work invested into worth hard won.
Your presence lingered all around the whole.
I came, I saw, I tested at the bounds
and finding those secure, I leaned thereon,
unheeding something in the swaying sounds
that whispered danger at the blush of dawn
for tenuous trust upheld me in my fears—
until I knew you in my world of tears.
Taught by country life and students, Sherri is learning to love both the dramatic and the mundane.
