How Dost Thou Love Me?
by Eshan Dabak
How dost Thou love me? Let me count the ways.
Thou lovest me beyond the depth and height
My life can reach, beyond the crushing might
Of death, what wondrous sacrificial grace.
Thou lovest me in every breath of day’s
Reflection, every whisper in the night,
Thou lovest me though far I fell from right,
Thou lovest me to turn me to your praise.
And yet Thy love’s the sun that lights the moon,
Invisible, but for the eyes of faith
To know Thee in a friend’s embrace, a tune
Of silent, anguished cries, the very breath
That fills the sails of life; so grant me soon
This faith to trust Thy nearness into death.
Eshan, a lawyer by day, finds his greatest joy in uniting people through music and baked goods. He hails from Plano, Texas, though home for him is wherever he can find a thoughtful friend and meaningful connection.
