Summer Writing Workshop
Mondays, June 15-August 10, 2026 | 7-8:30 EST
Held on Zoom
Join a small group of writers this summer for a short fiction workshop. There are twelve spaces available. During the class you can expect to develop confidence in writing and structuring a creative fiction story and confidently give constructive criticism on your peer’s work. Together, the class will choose six stories to read together and discuss to understand what makes a successful short story. Each student would also submit one story of their own for workshop.
This 9-week creative fiction writing workshop is lead by Amanda Miller, an English and Creative Writing professor at Hagerstown Community College. The course will be held on Zoom from 7-830 pm EST, June 15 through August 10, every Monday evening for 9 weeks. Participants can expect to have between 3-5 hours of homework each week, including reading and writing. Registration cost is $200. Reading selections will be from the 4th edition of Backpack Literature which can be purchased here.
