Primăvară

by Rebecca Troyer

Spring, moseying from equator to pole,
Set down her satchel here and spent the day.
Her touch restored the emeralds winter stole.
The sallow sun warmed to her winsome face.
New greening traced her footsteps. Purple blooms
Rose thick along the borders of her path,
And where she slept, her dreams became a mist
Of blossoms laced through bare-branched apple trees.
Spring, rising with the sun, went on her way,
Leaving the orchard in a dew-rimmed hush.
She must have been distracted when she packed—
I found her perfume by the lilac bush.

  2. I agree this is delightful! I love this part: “She must have been distracted when she packed—
I found her perfume by the lilac bush.” I was lilacs would last all summer because I love their fragrance!

  3. Delightful! The last 2 lines are perfect — whimsical and a surprising last touch. 🤩

And now I see that 2 people already had similar thoughts and words. No intent to be a copycat here! 😁
