Boy Alone in Desert Wind, at Night
by Conrad Martin
Make of my mind—all time and space—
til now a waveless lake,
this night of wind is roused and shaken—
unslaked—
awakened into running peaks—the deep
unmoored, unshored—
the sky-walls flooding, falling headlong
through my head—
the pulse of me
one unstrained stun undraining,
drawing apace
the limit-speed-of-life,
my thought-wake drowning, fullness
flying, blindness crying
after. Catch me!
—match me!—
O bold and burning
out-bounding
body of heaven’s yearning.
Conrad Martin loves words for their ability to create deeper awareness and experience of life through connection between minds and hearts.
